Harold Enger has been involved in the Green Industry since 1972 and specifically in Lawn Care since 1978. He has worked with three major lawn care companies during that time and has been with Spring-Green Lawn Care Corp. since 1997. He is currently the Director of Education, working with 80 Franchise Owners in 26 states.
Harold received his B.S. in Education from Western Illinois University. After teaching for a short time, he rejoined the private sector, working in the relatively new field of Residential Lawn Care with a company called Tempo 21 Lawn Beautiful. He helped the company to grow to four facilities and was a Regional Manager for two of the offices. 1987, the company was sold to Barefoot Grass, where he assumed control of the largest of four offices in the Chicago metropolitan area. In 1995, he was promoted to Regional Manager of Chicago, the largest Barefoot Grass market with $8 million in revenue and 120 employees.
In 1997, he joined Spring-Green Lawn Care Corp. as a Regional Support Rep. Since joining Spring-Green, Harold was instrumental in creating and writing Spring-Green’s Internet-based Spring-Green University, has participated in panel discussions at the annual Green Industry Conference, is on the Education Committee for the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association and the National Association of Landscape Professionals, and received the peer-nominated Leadership Award from Lawn and Landscape magazine and Bayer Environmental Science and received certification as a Landscape Industry Certified Horticultural Technician and Landscape Industry Certified Manager – Turf Care through the National Association of Landscape Professionals.
Besides conducting 18 Regional Training Programs for Spring-Green on an annual basis, he has presented at the Technician Day and Turf Education Day for the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association and for the Midwest Regional Turfgrass Foundation.
